Summary[edit]
It's believed that mushwraiths are lost souls of ferali who were unable to move on to the afterlife. The gods took pity on them and gave them a chance to enter the afterlife. These souls were given the choice to wander forever or become Mushwraiths, creatures with no memory of their former lives. If they lived well they would be granted entry into the afterlife where they could rest.
Historical Basis[edit]
This belief came about not long after the initial discovery of a small group of mushwraiths in the heart of the Forest of Carran during the Second Age. Aside from their skin tone and mushroom tops they look like small ferali.
Spread[edit]
The temples worked together to spread this belief through the populace until it became ingrained into the common psyche. The people were more than willing to believe in the possibility with how many of their people were lost at sea or killed in avalanches and mining accidents every year.
Cultural Reception[edit]
The people allow the Magi to study the mushwraiths just so long as the studies don't interfere with their chances of living good lives.
