The Great Storm
In the year 296, a massive storm known as an ubtewove smashed against the Troatr Coast. As with many other disasters of this kind there was no warning. The few survivors report that there was a sucking sound that could be heard shortly before the massive waves came crashing down, obliterating their entire village.
It is said that the waves were so tall that they were visible from the atop the walls around Laewas, though in modern times no one's sure how much credence to give to such accounts. What's known for sure is that the village of Troatr is no more. The handful of survivors relocated to Wallowdale, feeling that an inland village would be safer. None of Troatr Village's fishing fleet made it. Over the course of the following year, pieces of the ships washed up along the coast but no bodies were ever recovered.
Historians consider this to be the worst ubtewove in known history although others have come close.
