Path of the Sorceress
Qualifications
Members of this Path focus more on their magical skills rather than on their sword work. Regardless, they are still required to have at least some basic skill with the kaneth.
Ranks
Earth
Archer
Raised by her master at the approximate age of 16, she must demonstrate the ability to summon a minor elemental and use simple earth spells. She may only be raised by her master. An Archer may take up to three apprentices at a time, depending on her skills. The name comes from the ability to cast target spells.
Quicksilver
She is named for her mastery over speed spells, such as swift, haste and slow. She is trusted with the tools of her Path.
Forestwalker
This is the highest she can go. She is named for her skill to communicate with animals. Some can speak all the languages of the Sisters, but it isn't common. A Forestmaster with the second skill acts as a translator. Those without train animals, usually odlavi for the sisters to ride.
Air
Eagle
She must demonstrate the ability to call wind and bond with a bird. The more common birds are the giant eagles and owls, hence the name. She can take up to three apprentices. Aside from that, her other main duty is to train birds in the aviary.
Falcon
To obtain this rank, the Eagle needs to show the ability to create 'wings', thus signifying the ability to 'fly'. It isn't really flying; more like gliding on wind currents or floating. Her duty is to create amulets of protection. These may be given to Sisters that are going out wandering or sold to raise money. She may take on an exceptionally talented girl and train her as an apprentice.
Skymistress
These Sisters have mastered the ability to 'fly'. By now, their eyes and hair have bleached as has the coloring of their bird.
Fire
Firestarter
These Sisters are aptly named for the ability to summon fire. They, too, take up to three apprentices at a time. Thier other duty is to teach basic fire spells to all apprentices.
Starblade
These Sisters have the knowledge of some of the higher magics. They are the only rank that doesn't use the kaneth, but instead uses a rapier-like sword that focuses her energy. When a Firestarter is ready to come up, a Starblade will begin training her in battle magics, similar to those taught to those on the Warrior's Path, but more powerful.
Flarecaller
These women have mastered the fire spells and can call upon the elements. They train the Starblades in their battle magics.
Water
Enchantress
Her magic is linked to a physical object, usually a musical instrument. Their object, combined with their voice, when using their power, tends to enchant anyone within hearing range. Thus they avoid outsiders and rarely leave the halls of the Sisterhood.
Chanter
They have more control over their powers. They take it upon themselves to care for all the children in the Sisterhood, sharing this duty with the Quicksilvers of the Master's Path.
Singer
They no longer need a physical focus for their power, which they rarely use. They seem emotionless.
