Creatrix
There are two opposing forces in the Aetherium. Eldalys is the Creatrix, the great mother goddess from whom the Fragments were created. Opposite to Her is Razaduun, the embodiment of chaos. Razaduun’s influence was spreading through the Aetherium far faster than She could control. Her only solution was to shatter Herself into smaller pieces and send those Fragments off into the galaxy to try and fend off Razaduun’s encroachment.
The shattering of Herself came at a cost. Eldalys no longer exists as She once was. All of Her ability to create went into Her Fragments. There are rumors throughout the Aetherium that She still lives, although in a powerless yet immortal form, but where she might be if that were true remains a mystery. Sojourners throughout history have searched for any sign of Her but have found nothing.
The Fragments of Eldalys manifested at approximately the same time but they do tend to arrange themselves in a set hierarchy based on who became aware of their existence first. This is how they determine their relative age.
Keverynn is the eldest Fragment and the most unlike the others. She has the same basic form but her skin is blue and she has wings. Later in her life she made further alterations to herself, adding a tail and clawed feet. Keverynn is somewhat of an outsider among the Fragments, even without her strange skin tone. Once it became clear to them what had happened, she went as far away from their birthplace as it was possible and has since refused to talk to any of her siblings. The only one who can get a word in with her is Ulwinn and then only rarely.
Ulwinn is the next eldest and the one who is most like Eldalys. She’s very prim and proper. Her elder sister Keverynn frustrates her, but she’s the only one who can talk to her. Ulwinn also finds her own children frustrating and so has very little to do with them, spending most of her time with Viraba, the youngest of her siblings.
Shildrian doesn’t care much for the affairs of his siblings, preferring to spend his time alone in silent contemplation. Much of his time is taken up by pondering the implications of the Shattering. At least, such was the case until Imbria arrived and interrupted his peace. She never bothered to mention that she was one of Ulwinn’s wayward children. Had he known, he’d have kept a closer eye on her.
Manacatl sees himself as the strongest of the five Fragments as he created his world of Tarang all by himself, only creating the world’s other, lesser gods because he wanted to. He could have comfortably ruled Tarang by himself but creating the others was a demonstration of his vast power. His siblings see it as a display of arrogance and secretly laughed when he and the others were sealed inside man made weapons.
Viraba, youngest of the five, doesn’t do much with her world of Liulge. She rarely interferes in the lives of its people, preferring to let them live their lives as they see fit. From time to time she’ll walk among them. She enjoys Ulwinn’s company. Of all the five Fragments she mourns her creation the most and doesn’t understand why the Shattering had to happen. Before they scattered she spent a great deal of time trying to talk to Shildrian about it, but he’s not the most talkative person.
