Good people are expected to be faithful and pious.
Evil is defined as negligence, blasphemy, and sloth.
Taboo subjects are bodily functions, wearing certain colors, but never eating certain animals.
Parora doesn't have the death penalty.
Suicide is something they don't talk about.
If an artist creates an offensive work, the work is destroyed and the artist is punished
Attitudes
The spirit world includes evil spirits, folk magic, and sometimes benevolent nature spirits. The average person avoids any spirits, and often greatly fears them.
The highest art forms are woodworking, beadwork, and more rarely papermaking.
Adulthood
Coming-of-age rites require promotion to a certain military rank, defeating an opponent in a fight, and more rarely leading a public ceremony.
== Education ==
Education is strictly optional.
== Army ==
They have been known to use local heroes. They are famous for their strict code of ethics and for their pride. Each regiment contains 5 troops of 260 soldiers. They have a highly informal chain of command, with ranks based on seniority.
The army is known for its overpowering numbers and the use of flails.
== Current Fashion ==
Spartan, billowing grey-green and blue-green garments. Tops are typically short sleeved with high necklines. Shorts and slippers are also customary. Masks are popular accessories. Buttons and leather and flax are staples of the style. Dark violet, vibrant blue, and deep red are also common colors.
== Marriage ==
Parorans have a system of polyandry (one woman + multiple men). A woman can legally have up to seven husbands, though it’s far more common for her to have only two or three. Upper class women tend to have more husbands. The Queen may have as many as she likes though only one is the official consort.
Initiating or arranging a marriage is usually an elder's role, and not a feminine role. Marriages usually include symbolic protests from kin and 4 days of seclusion beforehand.
== Funerary Rites ==
Death rites require extensive eulogies. The immediate family of the deceased go into seclusion for a minimum of 2. It’s rare, but sometimes the dividing up property happens at this time. Most commonly that happens several days after. Bodies are burned on a pyre. The ashes that remain are left to scatter on the wind.
Life after death is different, depending on the person's life, although minor sects say the afterlife is a fiery pit for all souls.
The afterlife can be reached by the living.
