==About the Academy== After the Great War the numbers of sehashi in the galaxy were severely depleted. A number of governments got together to discuss the issue. It was more or less luck when a person discovered their sehashi abilities and it was usually in a moment of crisis or great personal distress. This wouldn’t work if they were going to continue to keep their worlds safe from impending threat. The Ssu-Ling had been defeated, but who knew what else would rise up in their absence?
In light of this, it was agreed to create a training academy of sorts where those with the potential to become sehashi could be sent to see if they could be awakened. Those who turned out to be sehashi would continue to receive training at the hands of some of the most capable sehashi. Those who ultimately proved to have no ability would be given the option to join their world’s elite special forces. It was made clear to all who chose to participate that there was no penalty for not having the spark of a sehashi.
==Uniforms== All sehashi wear a uniform while on duty to protect their identities and to give their bodies additional protection against the danger they come up against. Those uniforms are generated by their powers.
At the academy, each cadet is issued a uniform in cadet blue-grey, signifying their status as a student. A study was made of the galaxy’s sehashi uniforms to ensure that the uniform wasn’t like anything in active use. While the base uniform remains the same for all cadets, each class has its own identifying features. This provides a sense of unity for the class and serves as a means to identify cadets at a glance.
Each cadet is permitted to choose two accent colours to personalize the uniform. These colours are registered with the academy to prevent duplications. Some have found that these selected colours stay with them after discovering that they have sehashi powers. Others find that their uniforms have other ideas.
At the beginning of their training, all the uniforms look the same. As they progress they may make personalized modifications to them. One feature that remains, however, is the open holes in parts of the uniform. These must remain, regardless of any changes made. These are slots for gemstones that are given to cadets later on in their training in order to teach them how to use sehashi-type powers. These powers aren’t anywhere near as potent as even Novice-class sehashi power, but it’s still sufficient to do damage to property and injure other cadets. The uniform the cadets are given on arrival has their gem slots in their shoes.
* Hole locations
* Shoes * Sleeves * Shoulders * Hips * Front of torso Power gem types
* Fire * Water * Ice * Earth * Wind * Electricity * Sound * Nature * Healing ==The Cadets== At the academy, the cadets are split into classes. There’s no set criteria for who is put into which class. The academy founders believed that it's best for the different species to mingle and get to know each other better. Perhaps this way further galactic conflict could be minimized.
These classes serve as a homeroom. Many subjects are taught in combined classes to allow for further mingling. Each class has a president and vice president who are responsible for maintaining order and liaising with the other classes and teachers. Each class has its own supervising instructor who is a fully trained sehashi.
Cadets live in a dorm building just off campus. Rooms are shared by at least two cadets and up to four. The rooms are never co-ed although the dorm building is. Cadets often share their dorm rooms with cadets from other classes to promote friendship. Exceptions in housing are made for cadets of unusual species. Most of the cadets at the academy are bipedal but from time to time there are quadrupeds. Most don’t have difficulty adjusting but it happens. The instructors have their own private rooms on the top floor of the building.
Class divisions are as follows: * Class I * Class II * Class III * Class IV * Class V <gallery> File:cadet-class1.jpg|Class 1 Uniform| File:cadet-class2.jpg|Class 2 Uniform| File:cadet-class3.jpg|Class 3 Uniform| File:cadet-class4.jpg|Class 4 Uniform| File:cadet-class5.jpg|Class 5 Uniform| {...} </gallery> <gallery> File:cadet-class1quad.jpg|Class 1 Uniform - Quadruped| File:cadet-class2quad.jpg|Class 2 Uniform - Quadruped| File:cadet-class3quad.jpg|Class 3 Uniform - Quadruped| File:cadet-class4quad.jpg|Class 4 Uniform - Quadruped| File:cadet-class5quad.jpg|Class 5 Uniform - Quadruped| {...} </gallery> On average, a class has between 5-9 cadets
==Cadet Selection Process== The systems with agreements to send cadets to the academy have all agreed to the same selection standards. Many of those sent are those who are known to be related to sehashi in some manner. Other potential candidates have high physical and mental aptitudes, have displayed some remarkable ability, have performed unusual acts of courage or heroism, or have encountered an unusual lucky streak. These aren’t the only possible criteria, but they are the main ones that are looked at.
==Location== Neorise is a small town located on a neutral planet in orbit around a brown dwarf star. It was created specifically to cater to the needs of the academy and its cadets but has grown a bit more since then. It’s not the only town on the planet, but it is the only one cadets are permitted to go to. Once a cadet has formally enrolled at the academy, they aren’t permitted outside the boundaries of Neorise unless participating in activity studies and under the supervision of an instructor. This is for the safety of the cadets as well as for the safety of the locals.
==Affiliated Species== There are hundreds of sentient species in the galaxy, but not all of them are willing to participate in the academy’s mission. While they’re always open to further participation, this is a current list of its active member worlds and species: Chihur
Cyvvan
Dicta
Dralaar
Equashil
Fleuriel
Gablot
Hydraeus
Ikaashiran
Ilrine
Nagi
Nagreshh
Qondreon
Raeshen
Rotillian
Shirren
Shriilar
Scirqeox
Swaidel
Taishora
Trellari
Vesk
Viellar
It’s important to note that humans aren’t permitted at the academy. The founders felt that it was unnecessary to invite them as they seem to have a larger than average number of sehashi per capita. It was also felt that the presence of humans would be upsetting to the other member species, particularly after the devastation of the Great War. It was difficult enough to convince people to allow the gablots in.
