Basics

Scientific Name: Sceoclic Apsilo
Lifespan: 10-12 years in the wild. Domesticated yahal can live nearly double that.
Geographic Distribution: Elnnwood

Anatomy

Yahal have short backs and long necks. Their heads are oddly humanoid. Both genders sport a single antler sprouting backward from the center of their forehead. The front of the long neck is covered in fluffy fur while the rest of the body has shorter fur.

Genetics And Reproduction

Size of litter: single
Type of offspring: live
Raised by: mother

Ecology And Habitats

While primarily found in the Elnnwood, there are subspecies of yahal found all over Keverynn's mainland.

Dietary Needs And Habits

They are browsers, and feed primarily on foliage of grasses, sedges, forbs, shrubs and trees. They have small stomachs and high nutrition requirements. They require a moderate amount of minerals such as calcium to support antler growth, and this further necessitates a nutrient-rich diet.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Yahal meat is tender and delicious. It's a common staple food.

Geographic Origin And Distribution

They prefer wooded area. The larger a forest is, the more likely it is to have yahal living there.

Symbiotic And Parasitic Organisms

The wolflings who live in the Elnnwood have domesticated them and use them as mounts. They are the only ones to do so.
