Significance

Kirikiyuu is fairly young as far as Telvanite settlements are concerned. From 568-671, it experienced a massive population growth after the discovery of a unique plant called evlum. Initially thought to be just another weed that would get tangled in fishing nets, it was soon discovered to be an effective treatment for Winter Sickness. Herbalists, Thaumaturges, and priests flocked to town to study and learn how best to use it.

Government

Lady Virrian has been in power for 30 years. She refuses to marry as that would mean sharing her power. She only had a child to pass along her title when the time comes. She has every intention of staying in charge for as long as possible. Virrian rules Kirikiyuu with an iron fist, earning her the nickname Lady of Steel.

Defenses

House Nekiyuu presently employs 70 soldiers to protect the city and another 40 as personal guards.

Guilds and Factions

For a town built on a lakeshore, the Fisherman's Guild isn't as large as it could be. The Herbalist's Guild is much larger and has considerably more influence. It relies heavily on the Fisherman's Guild for its harvest of evlum and to the Botanist's Guild for other usable material.

The busiest tavern in town is The Forlorn Trout.

The Callous Shield is arguably the best smithy in town, although patrons of its competitor, The Bent Nail, strongly disagree. The owners of both establishments insult each other in public, but in reality they've been in an ongoing relationship for the better par tof the last decade.
