The term Freeborn applies to a subgroup of the Alastean dragonriders who are opposed to the way the Dragonholds do things. They exclusively ride wild dragons.
Leadership
Freeborn leaders are called zhubeh. This is either the oldest or the most experienced rider in their camp. The zhubeh leads alone, as their numbers are nothing like those in the holds. Sometimes they employ an assistant called a tozhu.
Relations
How the Freeborn interact with the holds varies. The Xuwenn riders don't bother to hide their disdain for the Freeborn. An’taha Dragonhold has always had a good relationship with the An'taha Freeborn. As for the Dulanenn Dragonhold, relations with the Freeborn vary as the leadership changes.
