Even without a Cloudrunner's enchantment the blades hold a little magic of their own. Their name has a duel meaning: a reference to the glowing of the forge and the ability to, literally, burn stone. Many Stoneburners stay in this rank despite having achieved the power and ability to progress upward to become Firedancers. They simply don't feel the urge towards combat or doing anything more than creating. There's nothing wrong with it and it is an honourable occupation.

It's possible, on Mater's Path, to go from apprentice to Starblade, as many Stoneburners stay there. Those who hold this rank use the distinctive weapon of the same name rather than the more traditional [[kaneth]] utilized by the rest of the Sisterhood. They are, of course, trained to use both weapons but those who achieve this rank are the only ones who are permitted to use and carry this weapon.
