Dragons
Reproduction
The mating process varies among the species, but most engage in aerial competitions. One such competition, engaged in by the alpunn, is a long flight in which many males chase a single female. The male who catches up with her first gets to mate with her.
Once a female has mated, she carries her eggs inside her for one month. During this period, she carefully selects the grounds in which she’ll lay her eggs. When her time has come, she’ll spend the better part of a day laying the eggs, which will harden over the course of 6-8 weeks. The eggs are universally oval in shape and they are covered in tiny pores to allow the embryo to breathe.
As dragon names aren’t gender specific, a mother names her eggs when they have been hardening for 4 weeks. At that point, she knows which will survive and which won’t and so feels safe in naming her offspring.
Once the eggs have hatched, one or both of the parents will spend two months on average teaching them things that they need to know. From that point onwards, the learning moves from simply listening to their parent(s) to a more hands on approach, putting things into practice. Young dragons engage in play much like kittens do in preparation for learning to hunt.

Hatchmate - dragons who are born from the same clutch
Nestmate - a dragon that shares the same parents, but is of a different clutch.
Broodmate - these dragons share one biological parent--usually a sire, but sometimes a dam.
Clutch - a group of eggs a female lays at one time. Females will have many of these in her lifetime
Hatchling - a newly hatched dragon
Nestling - a dragon not yet ready or able to leave the nest
Sire - male parent
Dam - female parent
Brood mother - a female dragon not related to a dragon by blood, but still a member of their family group. Commonly used by species with harems.
Harem - name given to a group of females who mate with the same male
Mate - term for a pair of reproducing or bonded dragons. Term is gender neutral.
Lakinn - male dragon
Omir - female dragon
Arach - dragon who doesn't conform to either gender norms
Flight - a group of dragons, typically only used with unpartnered ones
Wing - a group of dragons, typically only used with partnered ones
Quickling - draconic term for non-dragons. Doesn't include wyvern
Development
As the eggs age and the embryo develops, the dragon inside will gradually consume all of the material inside the egg. Once this is gone, it leaves the shell brittle, making it easy for the hatchling to break free. A day or two before the hatching, the young dragons are able to hear what is going on in the outside world and can respond to auditory stimulus.

Once they’ve hatched, their first instinct is to look for food. One or both of the parents has their first meal ready for them. Dragons who have riders obtain their assistance in chopping the meat up into smaller portions for the young dragons.

Right from hatching, they can walk and see marginally well. Their vocal skills are rudimentary, comparable to a four year old human child. They have a genetic memory that allows them form speech and to understand what’s being said.

Hatchlings need to eat daily meals for the first six months of their lives. They can consume up to half their own body weight in food each day. At six months, they’re reached 40% of their adult size, but are still dependant on their parents for food as their hunting skills are poor at best, though some are able to catch small animals to supplement what their parents bring in. At this point in their lifespan, they only need to eat once every three days. A good sized shagback makes a good meal for them.

At a year old, they are proficient enough hunters to leave their parents. At 80% of their full size, they can survive quite well on what they can catch. Full size is reached at two years of age and females can begin to reproduce six months later. Male dragons are late bloomers and aren’t able to reproduce until they at least four years old.

Each species has specific milestones regarding their special abilities.

Culture
Culturally, dragons have an oral tradition that dates back to the early days of the world as they are the oldest race on Keverynn, followed by the wyvern. According to them, Amasuyeva is a real being who is the immortal mother of the dragon race. Her First Children are also quite real:
Aellar the Blue
Arrack-kemann the White
Tuarethel the Gold
Verenmisce the Green
Lashante the Silver
Language
Dragons have their own language with little variation amongst the species. They don’t share this language outside of themselves, not even with their riders.

Dragons aren't capable of understanding the speach of the bipedal species of Keverynn, nor can they speak to them. Solinn are the exception as their innate gift is universal language. Dragons who have Chosen a rider gain the ability to understand the language spoken by their rider.

Wild, unpartnered dragons generally don't bother with two-leggeds, but sometimes help the Dragonlords, particularly if their mate has a rider or they're related to a partnered dragon. Some who help have no affiliation with a rider's dragon. If they need to communicate with a two-legged, they use a paired dragon as a translator.

Diet
Dragons are largely opportunictic predators. They don't much care what they eat as long as there's enough of it. They have animals they won't eat as they don't provied enough nutrition. This changes as they age and grow.

Bonded dragons don't often feel the need to hunt as riders keep herds of animals specifically for them to use

Rabbits and similarly sized animals are sufficient for a very young dragon, espcially one who's just learning to hunt. Aside from the elau (a large, flightless bird), it's extremely rare for a dragon to eat birds.

Alpunn: their acceptable hunting range is large. Wild dragons live on fish, walrus, caribou, and elau.

Tiann: relatively speaking, they have a small area they call home. They prey on migrating flocks of elau and moose. Some have acquired a taste for fish and will hunt large marine animals off the east coast.

Seqenn: while the migratory yahal fall in their hunting area, they rarely eat them, preferring red tailed deer when their in season. In the off season, they eat non-migratory animals.

Solinn: they particularly enjoy wild cows and yahal as well as red tails and elau when their migration path brings them through their province.

Vukann: their primary diet is yahal and red tail and will eat wild cows if they can get them. They also have a fondness for the large fish that populate the Liusje River.

There are non-migratory animals in each territory that they'll eat as well. Larger dragons will sometimes hunt bears.

They make a point of not hunting other predators unless there are no other options. Some argue that wyvern are an exception to this rule, but wyvern meat tastes bad to them so while dragons will happily kill wyvern (and vice versa), they won't eat them. Wyvern, on the other hand, will happily eat a dragon if the opportunity is there.

Speed
Dragons often fly slower when carrying passengers. This is partially due to the limitations of non-dragon endurance and partly from the added weight. The more passengers they carry, the slower their speed. How many passengers they can carry varries among species and individuals.

While carrying riders wearing proper gear, they can travel somewhat faster than they would an unequipped rider.

Siathi passengers also reduce how fast they can go due to the drag on the siathi's wings.

Burdened (with rider)
Wyndchild - 90 kph (flight)
Tiann - 220 kph
Solinn - 200 kph
Seqenn - 160 kph
Vukann - 140 kph
Alpunn - 120 kph
Dragonriders
The story goes that there was a seqenn named Holtrenn who felt out of place among the other dragons. She’d spent a lot of time observing the humans who lived in the same area that she did. They amused her with their antics. One day, she felt an odd sort of pull towards one in particular, so she spent most of her time observing that one, a young woman named Kalainn, in particular. The more she watched, the stronger the pull became. One day, Holtrenn approached the human and was startled to learn that she understood her strange words. The pair talked for some time and then the woman had to go back home.

Kalainn came looking for Holtrenn the next day, clearly distressed. Speaking to the dragon the day before had sparked something in Kalainn, something that had caused her discomfort from being away from Holtrenn. Together, they sought out Aellar, who told them that it was possible for some dragons and some people to form a bond. It had never come up before as dragons tended to keep their distance from people to avoid scaring their livestock and humans avoided dragons for much the same reason.

Kalainn and Holtrenn became the first Dragonriders. It wasn’t until the time of Jia Litrell and Amanthrenn, nearly a century later, that the Dragonlords would be formed with Jia as the first Argent Dragonlord. Her companions Taia Silvermoon, Yung Greklinn, Shajten clan L’trusha, and Kaylandolei became the first Auric, white, Veridian, and Azure Dragonlords respectively.

An adult dragon occasionally feels a tugging on their kalar (their spirit or essence) that sends them out in search of the source of the tug. It’s this tug that is the initial formation of the bond between a dragon and their rider. Dragons most often Choose people in their area as their rider. Most riders are human, though green dragons most frequently Choose chume’taly as their riders given that they share the same territory. In some extreme cases, a dragon will travel outside of their province to find the source of the tug.

In bonding, a dragon can partner with a male or a female, regardless of the dragon’s gender. It’s most common to see same gender dragon and rider pairs, though opposite gender pairs are seen.

In the event that a dragon is killed, the rider dies soon afterwards as they cannot survive the shock of the loss regardless of what species they are. Dragons, on the other hand, can survive without their Chosen rider, though it’s not pleasant. Some have been known to find another rider, but the bond isn’t as strong as it was with the first rider.

Not all of the dragons that associate with the Dragonlords have Chosen riders. Some allow themselves to be ridden much as wyndchilds do. In some cases, a dragon will have a friend among the warriors and will allow that person to ride them into combat. Not all dragons will allow this, however. Some fly into battle with no rider. There are also dragons who choose to remain apart from the Dragonlords.

Species
There are several distinct species of dragon.

Tiann | Solinn | Seqenn | Vukann | Alpunn

Territory of Origin: Salcreria
The plural form of the word is wyndchilds.
Movement
An average wyndchild can move at a speed of 95 km/h on the ground. In flight, they travel at 125 km/h. Carrying a passenger, this speed drops to 110km/h.

Behaviour
General Personality Traits: They group together in herds. Unlike a herd of horses, all of the mature drekels breed, not just the leader. They have very good memories and can list their genealogy back at least five generations. This is to prevent accidental inbreeding. It’s not uncommon for the younger herd members to break off and roam on their own, joining other herds of forming one of their own.
Appearance
These animals are generally horse shaped with horse-like heads, manes, and tails.
Colouration: They all sport shaggy, two toned coats in colors quite different from any other species of equine. They bear markings that run from the base of the tail, up the back of the neck along the hairline, down the nose, continuing under the chin and down the front of the neck to continue along the belly and back to the back legs. Swirl patterns that are unique to each individual mark them, making it easier for an outsider to tell them apart. Some have more, some have less.
Ruling Caste
The members of this caste have the largest and most elaborate masks. They are often decorated with precious metals and gemstones.Their mask shape is reminiscent of that used by the gods.

Courtier Caste
Their masks aren't as elaborate, but are also decorated with a little bit of metal. Those that have gemstones use more common ones and those that are less valuable. Their mask shape is reminiscent of that used by the gods.

Warrior Caste
There are 4 seperate castes within this caste:
Lancers
Archers
Swords
Defenders
Their masks are almost always white with personalized decorations painted on.
Lancer masks come to a three pronged point at the top and expose the sides of their faces.
Archers have wide, pointed sides and are cut to expose the sides of their faces.
Swords use the same teardrop shape seen in noble masks. It's said that they use this shape as someone from their caste performed a great service to the naga people. The gods, pleased with this, granted them permission to change their mask shape. Their entire face is covered.
Defenders have blocky, tall masks. A small gap at the bottom leaves part of their jaw exposed.
Scholars
Scholars are the only caste with a mask that shows the lower part of their face. This is so they can function across cultures while still conforming to their culture.

Artists
These masks often have an elaborate frill on the top made from stiffened fabric.

Merchants
Merchant masks are made from two different materials. The main part of their mask is plaster. Around their eyes, looking like a second mask, is a secondary material. This second material is different for each family.

Constructors
These masks are the most plain in shape. These simple oval masks generally have very little decoration. The eye holes are longer on the bottom to make it easier for them to see what they're working on.

Farmers and Herdsmen
Their masks are usually made of light fabric. They have large holes around their eyes and a transparent section around their mouths.

Workers
Their masks are plain fabric with reinforced eye holes. They drape down over the face and are held in place with thin cord. Decorations are sewn or embroidered on. Each family of workers has their own type and colour of fabric they use to distinguish themselves from the others.

Priests
Priests have asymmetrical masks with gaps that expose some of their skin. This is because priests often paint those parts of their face to denote which god/goddess they follow. The colour and design of their mask is personalized like every other caste.

Children
While some castes allow their children to go unmasked, more prestigious families start masking their children once they turn 16. Regardless of caste, all naga recieve their adult mask by age 50.
To accomodate a child's growth, their masks are either made of cloth or padded wood and typically only cover the top part of their face. It's expected that a child will go through nearly a dozen of these simple masks before they reach their full growth.

Etiquette
Masks are sacred to their culture and are a key part of their identity. Once a naga has reached adulthood, they wear their mask almost all the time. The only time it is acceptable to be maskless is in their homes. Masks are worn in public, though it is acceptable to be maskless while outside of Athros.
When eating at a public establishment, masks are worn until food is served, and then the mask is on top of their heads to allow them to eat. The exception to this rule is with the scholars, whose masks leave their mouths open.
It's rude to remove ones mask in front of strangers.
In an honour duel, masks are removed. This isn't to prevent damage but rather to put both parties on equal footing in the eyes of their society.
Houseless outcasts have their masks taken from them and destroyed, symbolically killing the naga. To be maskless in naga society is bad.

In Culture
Masks are important to their story telling. Plays are prevalent in their society and so masks are used rather than costumes to represent the characters.
The masks of blind naga have the eyes filled in or covered to show others that they can't see. These individuals don't often use signs to communicate, though that depends on how they lost their sight and how long ago that was. Ones who were born blind don't as they wouldn't have learned it.
Lifespan
A naga can live for a long time, as much as a thousand years. 250 years would be considered short in their eyes. At present, the oldest living member of their race is 964 years old and is a member of the Warrior Caste.
Appearance
The serpent portion of a naga’s body varies in shades of red. Their skin tone varies in shades of grey. Some have even had a greenish grey tone.
They have pointed ears, slanted eyes, an upper torso that looks human and the lower body of a large snake.
For hair, skin tone, and eye color, however, the race tends to be largely similar. They have medium brown to black hair (though the occasional light brown/dirty blond will pop up). Eyes tend to be yellow, orange, or green.
Naga are serpent people.

Gender and Age Distinctions
A female naga is called a nagi. Males are referred to as nag. Young naga are called nagini. As a result, they aren’t very tall. They are capable of using their tails to give them some height, but they can’t maintain such a posture for long.

Biological Traits
Genetics and Reproduction
In this, they are more snake-like than humanoid as they only come into season during the summer months. Like the snakes they resemble, the Nagas are egg layers. Despite the differences in their body colorings, all Naga reproduce in the same manner. They employ internal fertilization through a pair of forked hemipenes stored inverted in the tail of the male. The hemipenes are grooved in order to better get a grip on the walls of the female’s cloaca.
Once the female has conceived, she builds a nest for her eggs even though they won’t be laid for some time. Nagas are ovoviviparous, keeping the eggs inside their bodies until they are 5-7 days away from hatching. Prior to laying her eggs, the female doesn’t often travel far. Once the eggs have been laid, the female will coil her tail around the nest, refusing to leave. It is the male’s job to bring her food. In each clutch, a female will usually lay three eggs, though two and four egg clutches aren’t unheard of. All of the eggs laid are fertile. It’s rare that any of them don’t hatch.
The new hatched nagini are far more able to function than a human baby. They can move under their own power, but can’t really see well and their hearing isn’t so good. Like all nagas, nagini have an excellent sense of smell and can identify both parents and siblings by scent if they are exposed to them enough in the hours just after hatching.
The nagini stay with their parents until they reach full maturity, a process of about twenty years. Sometimes, the parents will have other clutches while the first one matures, but most wait until the first has left the nest. Since Naga live for a long time, this isn’t really a problem. A pair of Naga can have quite a few clutches over their reproductive life time.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Nagas see well in the dark. They dislike the cold as they are cold blooded. They adore the heat.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
Culturally speaking, the naga are fairly straightforward. They have a strict code of honor and view any breach of it as the highest offense. Duels to prove that one is telling the truth are common and taken quite seriously. It is very cowardly to refuse a challenge or to back out of one. Gender doesn’t really matter to the naga as they focus more on one’s skills than what reproductive organs one has. Caste and skill are what matters.
Masks are very important to their culture and are used in many ceremonies and in the telling of the important stories and sagas. The Caste of Artists includes the actors and storytellers as a result. There is a group of young men and women who are give the life long task of preserving the most important of the masks, ones that have been around since before they began recording their history. They are said to have been given to the naga by Sahalje’ran the Masked, mother of the naga race. It is a sacred obligation to have then entrusted into your care and the responsibility is not granted lightly. The chosen ones, called andalegri, undergo intensive training in the care, preservation, storage, and use of each of the sacred masks.
More about naga masks

They are well known for their handicrafts and art. They make stone carvings, sculptures, paintings, clothing, and jewelry. On occasion, they do leatherwork as well, specifically for making armor for other Naga and saddles for those Naga who choose to join the Order of the Rose. While those of other Castes are discouraged from doing so, those who are from Castes other than the Warrior ones may join the order, though they are regarded coldly by others of their race and aren’t really welcome back home.

Caste System
For as long as their recorded history extends, this very strict system has been in place and has remained unchanged. Each Caste level consists of between seven and twelve family names and a set number of permissions and duties go with each level.

1. Caste of Rulers – 7 Houses
2. Caste of Courtiers – 9 Houses
3. Caste of Warriors (Lancers) – 12 Houses
4. Caste of Warriors (Archers) – 12 Houses
5. Caste of Warriors (Staff weapons) – 12 Houses
6. Caste of Warriors (Defenders) – 12 Houses
7. Caste of Scholars – 10 Houses
8. Caste of Artists – 8 Houses
9. Caste of Merchants – 8 Houses
10. Caste of Constructors – 11 Houses
11. Caste of Farmers and Herdsmen – 12 Houses
12. Caste of Workers – 12 families 13. Caste of Priests – 9 Houses
It should be noted that while marriage is not permitted outside of one’s Caste, they recognize that with a social structure as rigid as this one there is a heavy danger of inbreeding. As such, to keep the bloodlines pure, women are permitted to bear children with a man from another Caste, though permission must be sought through the proper channels first.

This process involves petitioning the head of your family name, the head of the Caste, and the Assembly. Only when the petition is approved can a woman seek a suitable father.
Naga Deities
Nelar the Hidden
Kalhalla the Seer
Tehaksha Soul Eater
Geography
The Tenoa River flows southward from the Great Basin Lake and becomes the Naeihon Falls near Doval's border with Telvan. The Dragon River begins at the base of that waterfall even though its the same river.

The Rossen Timberland
This is the largest uninterrupted wooded area on An'katerr. Dovalians are reluctant to cut down trees due to their affiliation with Kal Kiterr.
The timberland is named in honour of the now-extinct r'Ossen family.

Climate
The terrain is mostly flat prairies with woodlands in the north.
Hurricanes and such similar storms are common along the coast.

Seasons
Doval experiences harsh winters, but they're not as severe as those in Jiinal. Summers are mild.

Trade
Honey, leesha fruit, lumber, and beans.
Caltris – a kind of coniferous tree that makes a mildly sweet syrup. Common to the northern regions of Doval
Food
Dovalian food is characterized as being heavily spiced and seasoned. They primarily eat venison and pork. Fish is a delicacy and often only reserved for the nobility and very special feasts. Commoners will also eat rabbit and often raise a large kind of jackrabbit called rajit for that purpose.

Garnish and spices are a trademark of this cuisine. Dovalian food in general is spicy. It is polite and essential to Dovalian table manners to comment about the food during the meal.

Supper dishes
Chaia – a kind of soup made with roasted venison in a meat broth with small cubes of vegetables thrown in and seasoned to taste.
Oshe – a dressing typically put on krishti made with oil, vinegar, and sweet spices
Krishti – a kind of salad made with fruit and vegetables
Plain, buttered buns
Yairo steaks (imported from Telvan and only eaten by the wealthy as importing them is expensive and not many people can cook them properly)
Aloyn – fruit salad
Hashun - cooked eggs that had been scrambled and mixed with bacon, mixed vegetables, small pieces of la'hai sausage
Aimasvee Island is the only one with no settlements.

Climate
The climate here gets colder than it does on the mainland. Snow has been known to fall in the northern islands and a thin layer of ice forms over the ocean. As a result, the ships the Jiinalese use can be equipped with a metal piece at the front to allow them to cut through the ice.

Terrain
Terrain here is mostly flat with some mountains in the central islands. Cliffs are fairly common. It is the only country divided into provinces, one for each island.

Seasons
Winters are harsh in Jiinal as the ocean is prone to freezing. It rarely gets warmer than 15 C.
Current Ruler: Shinjaloye Nilkarath
Significance
Karath is the capital of Telvan. It was built by the First Emperor and is home to the Nilkarath family as well as the Fire Lord's primary temple. The Dragon Warriors are based out of this city.

Demographics
People of varying social classes live here, as does the imperial Family. Some of its surrounding farms raise livestock. Pets are common.

With few exceptions, the residents of Karath are Telvanite. There are some Dovalian and Kasheran merchants living there, but foreigners are decidedly in the minority there.

People in the capital city tend to be far more devout than the rest of their countrymen. This may be because the Fire Lord's primary temple is in Karath.

Language
Telvanites speak a dialect of the main Annom language known as Tinik. Foreigners who have been in Karath for a while speak a blend of Tinik and their native dialect.

Food and Water
Much of its food comes from the surrounding farms. They import what they can't grow locally as well as more exotic items. Fish from the river is a dietary staple. Much of their meat comes from hunting in the nearby woods and the slaughter of livestock.
Proximity to the river makes getting water easy. Karath has a high water table and there are many wells. Each farm has at least one.

Government
Like all of An'katerr's five countries, Telvan is ruled by an Imperial Family. Karath is the seat of House Nilkarath . Typically, the eldest child inherits the throne from their ruling parent. It's rare when a younger sibling or cousin inherits instead.

Defenses
Karath is surrounded by high walls as is typical for larger settlements. As the city grew additional walls were built.

At present, there are roughly 870 soldiers protecting the city and immediate area.

Guilds and Factions
The Chant of Fire has its primary temple here, located on Temple Row. The Dragon Warriors are primarily situated at the Imperial Palace although some have been known to have houses elsewhere in the city.

History
After the Sky Lords established the five nations of An'katerr, the leaders of each nation were told to return to their ancestral land and establish great cities from which to rule their land.
Completion of the first few rows of the city were completed in year 4 ABD. The last city expansion was completed in 657.

It's first ruler was a man named Coloren, the first emperor of Telvan. He is listed in the history books as the first member of House Nilkarath even though his family stretched back centuries before that. His wife, Miothenna, ruled at his side.
Coloren's people had roamed the south lands for centuries prior to the Beginning of Days. As such, it was only natural that they establish their new contry of Telvan in that region.

Karath was the name of Coloren's grandfather, a man he greatly admired. The city's namesake didn't live to see the Beginning of Days and his grandson's ascension to emperor. This was Coloren's way of paying homage to the past while working towards the future.

Architecture
As Karath expanded and outgrew its original set of walls, more walls were built to allow it to expand further. This has given the city an odd layout. Each Row has a name that suits is modern function. From the outside in the Rows are as follows: Crafter's Row, Merchant Row, Park Row, Temple Row, Noble Row, Guard Row, Palace Complex
Each Row is a small town unto itself with eating establishments, homes, markets, small shrines, and other day to day necessities. The Rows get their names from the specialties they have.
Crafter's Row
Crafter's Row is known for its blacksmiths, tailors, bookbinders, masons, painters, carpenters, woodcarvers, and weavers.

Merchant Row
Merchant's Row is where one would find beer sellers, barbers, jewelers, butchers, inns, book sellers, chandlers, and merchants that bring goods from all over An'katerr.
Park Row
Park Row is where one would find areas full of lush greenery. It's a quiet row with more houses than industries. It has a few upscale eating establishments and entertainment houses.
Temple Row
Temple Row is where the Great Temple of Kal Sharash is located. At one time it was the original Row for ordinary citizens to live in and it's outer wall marked Karath's original boundary. In modern days it has housing for the Chief Priest (or Priestess), high ranking members of the Chant of Fire, training halls for acolytes, a large library, the record hall, a public square, housing for government officials, and upscale housing for minor nobles.
Noble Row
Noble Row is generally considered to be off limits to the common folk as it entirely consists of manor houses for the highest ranking nobles in the country.
Guard Row
Entry to Guard Row is expressly forbidden to all unless you've been invited. This Row exclusively contains the barracks for the soldiers of Karath, their equipment stores, stables, and training grounds. Everything they need to help them protect Karath and the Imperial Family is here or brought to them. They take their jobs very seriously. While there are guard posts throughout Karath, Guard Row is where they're most concentrated. The elite soldiers and bodyguards to the Imperial Family reside within the Palace Complex itself.
Notable Locations: The Broken Spear

Palace Complex
Despite its importance, the Palace Complex isn't as large as most people think it is. It's large enough to house several members of the family itself, all five Dragon Warriors and the Chief Priest/Priestess (should they choose to stay there), members of the family's elite guard, palace staff, Imperial Advisors, and up to twelve visiting dignitaries. Quite often many of the rooms stand empty as the family rarely has more than two children and its not often that there are many visitors in the palace. In addition to these rooms, the palace also contains the throne room, a war room, a treasury, the Empress's private garden, a large stable, a private temple, a library, kitchen, cellar for cold storage, and a large hall.
Each wall has four gates set into it to allow people to pass through.

Geography
Karath sits on the banks of what the Telvanites call the Dragon River. Further upstream in Doval, it's known by a different name.

When the rains come, there is a serious danger of flooding. The outder rings and surrounding farms at at the highest risk.

While Telvan's summers are generally mild, in the inner rings they can get quite uncomfortable.

Autumn weather is characterized by a distinct bite to the air.

While it's a rare winter that is cold enough to fully freeze the Dragon River, it always sports a thin, easily broken layer. Even so, trade slows to a crawl as some sections of the river have thicker ice than others. Karath sometimes experiences heavy snowfalls.

Aside from the Dragon River, the land around Karath is quite flat, ideal for farming but not much else.

Geography
Jiinal is broken up into several islands. The water around them is called the Okymeri.
Aildrios
Aimasvee
Dathren
Laishvee
Luathrus
Ludrasi
Sage's Island
Sekmaili
Tailos
Aimasvee Island is the only one with no permanent settlements.

Trade
Resources
Metal
Tin
Arlun (dull, copper coloured metal), though most is imported
Gemstones
Moonstone
Beryl
Larimar
Army
Animal life
La’hai
Krelai:
Plant life
Sea grapes: they make wine from it that fetches outrageously high prices in other countries
